“Many elements prompt there is a covert criminal prosecution against citizens in police actions. There is no need to use covert policemen against the participant of the demonstration” said the lawyer Ara Ghazaryan in the interview with Iravaban.net.
He says that it is illegal to use covert policemen during the peaceful demonstrations where even if there is a lot of strict criticism against the authorities and even personal humiliation but there are no calls for violence, and there are no terrorist activities.
“They were very careful before so as not to be revealed. But now it is strange that there are many policemen with the civilian outfit. But the law provides that a policeman must have identification signs. Two days ago water cannon machine was used as a mean provided by law on the one hand and, on the other hand, people in civilian clothes were pulling the citizens along the streets. How can we know who they are?” said Ara Ghazaryan.
He noted that all this proved that the police do not know what the human rights are. On the other hand the police announce that the demand of the activists is illegal but it is not the police to decide. Their responsibilities are to ensure that activists could implement their right of peaceful assembly.
