“My son had a grenade in one hand, so that if the enemy approached, he would harm himself”: Seryozha Mkhoyan bled to death in the field of Shushi

“He lived briefly, but accomplished many things,” – Seryozha Mkhoyan’s mother, Karine Mkhoyan, tells Iravaban.net within the “Immortal Victims of the Artsakh War” series.

Seryozha had many goals. He was studying programming. Before going to the army, he had asked his family not to touch his computer so his programs wouldn’t accidentally be deleted.

“He tried everything, he was involved in everything. True, we lived in a village, but my Sergey went and studied in the city too. He was very patriotic. He served in Jrakan. He was satisfied with everything. When the war started, I called Sergey crying, he said ‘Mom, why are you crying, what war, I don’t know?’ But now I’m learning that the first strikes were on their military unit,” says the mother.

Sergey was a driver. He went to Shushi to deliver bread. He was surrounded in Hadrut.

“For a week they had no information from Sergey. The last time he called, nothing could be heard, we couldn’t understand each other. He was probably already in the field of Shushi, maybe he wanted to tell me something, but we couldn’t talk. A few days before that, my Sergey was telling me ‘Mom, something very good will happen, you’ll hear very good news.’ A few days later my husband went to Shushi and they came with the news of my son’s death,” she says.

Sergey Mkhoyan died in Shushi, he was wounded in both legs, his mother says he bled to death.

“One of his friends bandaged both legs and dragged him a little bit, but couldn’t get him out. Sergey said ‘leave me, you go.’ Sergey had a grenade in one hand, so that if the enemy approached, he would harm himself,” she noted.
