On 29 June, 2023, on the initiative of the prosecutor, a public criminal prosecution was initiated against V.G., who was the Deputy Director for science of “Sevan National Park” SNCO in 2016, and since 10 May, 2017, held the position of Director, for embezzlement, forgery, fraud and money laundering.

The Prosecutor General’s Office reported.

During the preliminary investigation, it was found that V.G. drew up a false delivery-acceptance protocol act, as well as within the framework of the purchase agreement signed between SNCO and “Environment and Natural Resources Scientific Research Institute” LLC during 2016-2017, using his official powers, with the help of a group of people, embezzled 3 million 683 thousand AMD from SNCO.

In addition, within the framework of the purchase agreement signed on 11 July, 2017 between SNCO and “Karen Aghababyan Ernest” IE, V.G., with the help of a group of people, embezzled 3 million AMD from the SNCO

In addition to the above, V.G., within the framework of the agreement on the use of financial assistance provided by the state in the form of a grant signed between the SNCO and the Ministry of Nature Protection on 2 October, 2017, made false reports and fraudulently embezzled 20 million 969 thousand AMD, then laundered particularly large amounts of money of criminal origin.

On 10 July, 2023, the supervising prosecutor submitted a motion to the Anti-Corruption Court to apply detention as a measure of restraint measure to V.G. On 11 July, 2023, the court, partially satisfying the petition, applied to V.G. combined measures of alternative measure of restraint: administrative control and bail in the amount of 10 million AMD.

Note: A person that is suspected or accused of an alleged crime is considered innocent until his/her guilt is proved by a court judgment that has come into legal effect pursuant to the procedure determined by RA Criminal Procedure Code.
