Today, on 12 January, the Government adopted a decision according to which RA citizens will be able to cross the Georgian border with an identification card.
It is noted that since independence, the development of neighborly and partnership relations with Georgia is one of the important directions of the foreign policy of the Republic of Armenia. Today, there are about 80 international treaties and agreements between the two countries.
“The foreign policy section of the Government Program mentions the need to develop special relations with Georgia, keeping them away from geopolitical influences as much as possible. High-level political meetings are held periodically, steps are taken for the development of bilateral relations with Georgia in trade-economic, scientific-educational, cultural and other areas of mutual interest.
There is a visa-free visit regime for each other’s citizens, between the Republic of Armenia and Georgia, which is defined by the agreement of 19 May, 1993 “On visa-free movement of citizens of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Georgia through their territories”. Currently, citizens of Armenia with an identity document can stay in the territory of Georgia for up to one year, citizens of Georgia in the territory of Armenia for a maximum of 180 days in one year,” Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said.
Pashinyan also reminded that the Prime Minister of Georgia will arrive in Yerevan today.
