Citizens of Armenia and Georgia will be able to cross the border with identification cards

Citizens of Armenia and Georgia will be able to cross the border with identification cards, and it will not be necessary to present a passport.

At the 12 January session of the Government, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan presented the Draft Decision on Approving the Proposal to sign an Agreement “between Armenia and Georgia on Mutual Visa-Free Travel for Citizens of the Two States”.

There is a visa-free visit regime for each other’s citizens between Armenia and Georgia.

“On 3 March, 2020, the Prime Ministers of Armenia and Georgia signed a Memorandum of Intent on facilitating the movement of citizens. The parties have expressed their intention to conclude a new agreement. Work has been done, and now there is a draft of the Government’s decision on this agreement,” Ararat Mirzoyan said.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan added: “This agreement is about the fact that from now on the citizens of Armenia and Georgia can cross the border with an identification card, that is, they will not need a passport. Today we are waiting for the Georgian delegation headed by Prime Minister Irakli Gharbashvili.”
