Citizens of Armenia and Georgia will be able to cross the border with identification cards, and it will not be necessary to present a passport.
At the 12 January session of the Government, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan presented the Draft Decision on Approving the Proposal to sign an Agreement “between Armenia and Georgia on Mutual Visa-Free Travel for Citizens of the Two States”.
There is a visa-free visit regime for each other’s citizens between Armenia and Georgia.
“On 3 March, 2020, the Prime Ministers of Armenia and Georgia signed a Memorandum of Intent on facilitating the movement of citizens. The parties have expressed their intention to conclude a new agreement. Work has been done, and now there is a draft of the Government’s decision on this agreement,” Ararat Mirzoyan said.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan added: “This agreement is about the fact that from now on the citizens of Armenia and Georgia can cross the border with an identification card, that is, they will not need a passport. Today we are waiting for the Georgian delegation headed by Prime Minister Irakli Gharbashvili.”
