The Russian Peacekeeping Troops do not fulfill the obligation assumed by the Trilateral Statement of 9 November: Pashinyan

At the beginning of the Government session, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan emphasized again that Azerbaijan is not fulfilling the commitment assumed by Trilateral Statement of 9 November.

“De facto, it turns out that the obligation recorded in the Trilateral Statement, that is, to keep the Lachin Corridor under control, is not fulfilled by the Russian Peacekeeping Troops either.

Of course, this happens as a result of Azerbaijan’s illegal actions, but this does not change the situation, because the main purpose of the presence of the Russian Peacekeeping Troops is to prevent the occurrence of such illegality, and in particular to keep the Lachin Corridor under control,” he noted.

“In addition, I must say that RA has conveyed to Azerbaijan its proposals regarding the peace treaty and we are ready to sign the treaty with that content. I hope that the reaction of Azerbaijan will also be positive.

The Armenian side forwarded to Azerbaijan its proposals related to the further work of the border demarcation and border security commission, but we have not received a response until now.

RA has conveyed to Azerbaijan its proposals regarding the reopening of regional communications and is ready to go that way for an immediate solution to the issue. Months ago, RA forwarded its proposals on guaranteeing border security to Azerbaijan, but we have not received an answer to date. Those proposals also include solving the problem of the occupied territories of Armenia. Our position remains the same, that Azerbaijan should stop the occupation of the sovereign territories of Armenia, its troops should be withdrawn from the sovereign territories of Armenia,” Pashinyan said.
