Artak Krkyasharyan was elected Judge of the Anti-Corruption Chamber of the Court of Cassation

The Supreme Judicial Council has nominated Lilit Grigoryan, Artak Krkyasharyan and Mushegh Harutyunyan for the vacant position of Judge of the Anti-Corruption Chamber of the Court of Cassation.

Out of 107 deputies, 69 deputies took part in the voting, all of them voted “for” Krkyasharyan’s candidacy. Lilit Grigoryan and Mushegh Harutyunyan received 0 votes. After the decree is signed by President Vahagn Khachaturyan, Krkyasharyan will hold the position of a judge of the Court of Cassation.

Candidate Artak Krkyasharyan expressed an opinion that the effective and uncompromising fight against corruption is one of the priority issues of democratic and legal states. In this regard, he considered significant the fact that the RA Government with its decision “On approving the RA Anti-Corruption Strategy and its Implementation Action Plan for 2019-2022” attached special importance to the significant change of the anti-corruption institutional system. The establishment of specialized anti-corruption courts was highlighted in terms of the establishment and continuous development of the institutional system for combating corruption.

According to the candidate, the specialized investigation into corruption cases will bring the effectiveness of the fight in the field to a new level. In this context, Artak Krkyasharyan highlighted the role of the Anti-Corruption Chamber and its judges. According to the candidate, if elected, his experience and professional knowledge will allow him to properly perform his duties as a judge of the Anti-Corruption Chamber of the Court of Cassation.
