Today, on 29 June, the National Assembly convened a special sitting. The issue of electing the Prosecutor General is being discussed. The Chairman of the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs of the National Assembly Vladimir Vardanyan introduced the candidate; Anna Vardapetyan, the Assistant to the Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, on legal issues.

“In my opinion, the high professional qualities of Ms. Vardapetyan are strengthened by the high moral and human qualities that are necessary to have relevant achievements in the mentioned position.

“For the first time in the history of Armenia, a woman candidate is running for this position, and I think that the new image of the Prosecutor’s Office, a Prosecutor’s Office, which is primarily called to ensure the restoration of rights and demand a fair trial, can be embodied by Ms Vardapetyan,” Vladimir Vardanyan said.

According to him, Anna Vardapetyan’s adherence to principles, devotion, value approach to the preservation of both democracy and the rule of law, in any case, cannot arouse suspicion in anyone.

“The professional qualities, especially in the criminal field, with which the candidate is endowed, will allow her not only to ensure the daily activities of the prosecutor’s office and to provide the necessary reforms that are necessary to have a system of prosecutorial control in line with the 21st century. It will give a new impetus, but it will be of great importance in general, perhaps for the implementation of reforms in the scientific-educational sphere,” Vladimir Vardanyan said.

He also mentioned that Anna Vardapetyan works according to 7/24 principle, not being afraid of work, responsibility, workload.

“Ms. Vardapetyan can combine all the features of the best professional, extraordinary theorist, person with the best practical skills. “Features that are necessary to make the prosecutorial activity more effective,” Vladimir Vardanyan said.
