At the sitting of the Standing Committee on Defense and Security of the National Assembly, the amendment to the Law on Compensation for Damages Caused to the Life or Health of Servicemen during the Defense of the Republic of Armenia was discussed.
MP Hayk Sargsyan was the main speaker.
“The law stipulates that beneficiaries of killed or missing servicemen are the spouse, children and parents of the serviceman. I have been informed of 16 cases in which we have killed and missing servicemen who were 18 years old or unmarried, had no children, and were orphaned and no one received compensation for them. I saw the need to make a change so that their relatives, brothers and sisters, would receive compensation for them,” the MP said.
According to him, the change does not involve additional expenses from the budget. Simply the beneficiaries of the Compensation for Damage to the Life or Health of Servicemen Foundation are increasing.
