Gagik Beglaryan was released on bail

The former mayor of Yerevan, former Minister of Transport and Communication Gagik Beglaryan was released on 50 million drams bail by the decision of the Prosecutor General. Adviser to the Prosecutor General Gor Abrahamyan informed Iravaban.net about this.

According to him, the wanted Gagik Beglaryan arrived in Armenia on 17 May on a Moscow-Yerevan flight, voluntarily presented himself to the body conducting the criminal proceedings, besides, a sum equivalent to the damage caused to the state was paid to deposit the RA Prosecutor’s Office.

“Taking into account the mentioned circumstances, the prosecutor supervising the legality of the preliminary investigation of the criminal case made a decision to change the pre-trial detention of the accused Gagik Beglaryan to 50 million AMD bail,” Abrahamyan said.

It should be reminded that 57-year-old Gagik Beglaryan, was handed over to the National Security Service after the arrival of the Moscow-Yerevan flight on 17 May, due to the operative-investigative measures taken by the officers of the “Zvartnots” Airport Linear Division of the General Department of the Police. He has been wanted by the General Department of Criminal Police since 23 March, 2008 on charges of Articles 179 (Squandering or embezzlement) and Article 308 (Abuse of official authority) of the RA Criminal Code.
