Vaccination will soon be mandatory for travel around the world։ Nikol Pashinyan

Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed the issue of coronavirus vaccination today, on 29 April, during a regular government session.

“Of course, due to the post-war situation, we may not have paid enough attention to this issue, but now, thank God, we have a great potential for vaccination, but we face a problem that this potential is not realized in the right amount and scale, which is a certain risk. It causes, not only for health, but also for the economy,” Nikol Pashinyan said, emphasizing its importance especially in the sphere of tourism.

Acting Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan said that as of 29 April, there are 656 new cases registered, there are 13,257 citizens who are infected, of which more than 2,000 are in hospitals, 16 deaths were registered yesterday. More than 4,000 people died of coronavirus in Armenia.

“The vaccine has been available to every citizen over 18 for several days. We have made changes in the service schedule in polyclinics and outpatient clinics, trying to make it as easy as possible to apply. Regardless of where the person is attached, he/she can register at the preferred polyclinic and get the vaccine,” the acting minister said.

According to Anahit Avanesyan, from next week there will be mobile teams, which will be located in busy parts of the city and will take the vaccination process one step closer. She also noted that vaccination is the only way to help end the catastrophic death toll and to keep the issue under control.

“100% vaccination, all the vaccines that are available in Armenia, protect against the severe, extremely severe course of the disease. The risk of a mild or severe side effect from the vaccine is almost non-existent when compared to cases of covid infection, resulting in serious health problems and, unfortunately, deaths. Therefore, I urge you, dear colleagues, to be actively involved in the process and show that this is a priority problem that we need to solve. I was vaccinated yesterday, Mr. Avinyan as well. I feel very good, I hope this example will be contagious,” Anahit Avanesyan said.

Nikol Pashinyan agreed with Avanesyan, calling all the persons present in the hall to agree that they would be vaccinated within a week.

“Unfortunately, movements against vaccines have started in Armenia in recent years, and their purpose is unknown yet.. We all need to be vaccinated. At the moment, 2690 people are vaccinated in Armenia, which is a disgracefully low index.

Vaccination will soon be mandatory for travel around the world. I do not know if it will be in a month or a week, but it is obvious that in 1-2 months no country will allow an unvaccinated person to enter its territory,” Nikol Pashinyan said.

He said that vaccinations should be carried out in the Armed Forces as well.
