5 health workers arrive in Armenia from Great Britain to assist in monitoring the treatment of critically ill patients with COVID-19

Five health workers have arrived in Armenia from the United Kingdom to assist Armenian physicians in overseeing the treatment of critically ill patients with COVID-19.

WHO Armenia Representative Yegor Zaitsev received the UK Emergency Medical Team (EMT) and thanked them for their commitment to provide professional assistance to Armenia during this difficult time in the fight against the pandemic. The medics responded to the WHO invitation sent to Armenia with the support of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia, the British Embassy in Armenia and the WHO.

“This group has valuable experience. During the epidemic, they traveled to many countries and worked in the United Kingdom as part of the crackdown on COVID-19. “I am confident that this professional group can pass on its knowledge and skills to Armenian healthcare providers by supporting the treatment of patients with COVID-19,” Dr. Zaitsev said.

During the coming month, the UK Medical Center will conduct training courses, coordinate the work of hospitals, and cooperate with medical staff, guaranteeing high quality medical care. The group will assist the Ministry of Health in strengthening health services in the fight against COVID-19 and other diseases.

The UK Emergency Medical Team is classified as a WHO initiative, which aims to establish a global network of pre-qualified emergency medical teams. This WHO classification demonstrates the group’s ability to provide direct treatment to patients in accordance with WHO international standards.
