Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan is at the scene of the explosion that took place today. He writes about the incident:

“This morning in Kanaker-Zeytun, at 3 Rainis Street, according to preliminary data, an explosion took place due to a gas leak, the four-story panel building partially collapsed. The rescue service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations is currently carrying out search and rescue operations.

I have instructed the relevant subdivisions of the municipality to provide temporary shelters to the residents injured in the explosion. Specialists will study the seismic resistance of the partially collapsed building and the issue of further restoration based on it.

The area will be cleared after the search and the end of the investigation.”
