The Power has the Task of getting rid of me quickly: Hrayr Tovmasyan

As we have already informed, today, on 24 January, the Special Investigation Service is conducting a search in the house of the President of the Constitutional Court Hrayr Tovmasyan. Hrayr Tovmasyan thanked the journalists for following closely the search process of his home.

“Public control is very important to me. Two or three times I was summoned for interrogation and today some investigative activities were at home, my request, petition, exhortation to have it all recorded. I assure you that what is happening today will not end today. I am really sorry for that, they will be the basis for new criminal cases, and at that time the evidence base, if anything, did not work. I will always repeat my petition to have this entire interrogation and all the actions recorded,” the President of the Constitutional Court said.

He also added that it was incomprehensible for him the abstaining and rejecting the petitioners’ own motions by the interrogating body, to interrogate both the interrogation and the home search to avoid further readings and various interpretations.

“Unfortunately, what is happening in Armenia these days around me, around the Constitutional Court, is coming to the conclusion that the issues are really deep and that the current government has a problem with getting rid of me as the President of the Constitutional Court. All this is being done in a very rude and obvious way, and it is no longer about me saying that not only the public but also the international community is aware of it. For me, “Hrayr Tovmasyan’s problem” is secondary, tertiary. More important to me is the authority of the country, the future of the country. It is not possible to “waste” (let me use that word) the authority that has been accumulated for years so quickly,” Hrayr Tovmasyan said.

He also added that the former Director of the National Security had made hints about it; “I hope, I am confident that the honor of officer will not allow him to remain silent about it. And all these processes, when was it started, what started, what they talked to me; all this will become public property. If I keep silent to this day, it is only due to the reputation of my country,” the President of the Constitutional Court added.
