The trial of Robert Kocharyan, the second President of the RA, former Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan, former CSTO Secretary General Yuri Khachaturov and former Deputy Prime Minister Armen Gevorgyan is being held today at the Shengavit residence of the Court of General Jurisdiction Yerevan.
During the hearing, Yuri Khachaturov’s lawyer Mihran Poghosyan filed a petition to the prosecutor Karen Bisharyan’s challenge, during which he noted that Bisharyan involved in the case should not attend the hearings. The prosecutor stated that he objected to the actions of the party.
Mihran Poghosyan turned to the prosecutor and said: “I do not interrupt you when you speak. Don’t tell me what to do; take your seat!” In response the prosecutor shouted: “You don’t have to tell me what to do. I’ll make you shut up, and you won’t know how! “
The parties were applying to each other in a rude way.
Judge Anna Danibekyan, presiding over the hearing, regularly called the parties to order, but remained unanswered. The judge left the courtroom.
The court hearing was interrupted.
Notably, according to Mihran Poghosyan yet on 23 February 2018, during the discussions of March 1 events that took place in the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, Prosecutor Bisharyan expressed a position on Robert Kocharyan, noting that there was no reason to charge him and there was no need to invite him as a witness.
According to Khudoyan, as a result of certain political changes processes have begun, in which case the Prosecutor General and K. Bisharyan had already seen the grounds, while the facts and the same 0038 decree were known. The lawyer also drew attention to the fact that Bisharyan is biased towards Robert Kocharyan and cannot participate in the case as a prosecutor.
Before that Kocharyan’s lawyer’s team filed a challenge to prosecutor Petros Petrosyan, who signed the indictment on March 1, and supervised the case, but the court rejected the motion.
Members of the Advocate team Aram Orbelyan and Ruben Sahakyan also joined the motion. Yuri Khachaturov’s lawyer Mihran Poghosyan “during whose prosecutor Gevorg Baghdasaryan expressed his indignation, joined the petition as well, and which caused lawyer Poghosyan’s dissatisfaction.
