Yesterday, Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy / Vice-President of the Commission, had a telephone conversation with Nikol Pashinyan to congratulate him on his election as the new Prime Minister of Armenia.

Both sides agreed on the importance of partnership between the European Union and Armenia. And they were expecting to meet the Prime Minister personally in Brussels at the invitation of the High Representative.

Further steps taken by the Armenian parliament to elect the prime minister, including the further formation of the government, have also been discussed, as well as further opportunities for strengthening the EU-Armenia relations. The priorities of foreign policy, including the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, were discussed in detail, the peaceful settlement of which, according to the High Representative, continues to be a priority of the European Union.

High Representative Mogherini expected to work with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and with his government in the future.
