The Civil Society should be the Pillar of Fight against Corruption

In the framework of a working visit to South-East Asia, Mr. Karen Zadoyan, Coordinator of the SCOs’ Anti-Corruption Coalition Secretariat, President of the Armenian Young Lawyers Association (AYLA) met with the representatives of the two leading organizations of Anti-Corruption Sphere of Indonesia: “Indonesia Corruption Watch” and “Transparency international Indonesia” CSOs.

During the meeting Mr. Adnan Topan Husodo, Coordinator of Indonesia Corruption Watch, introduced the projects implemented by their organization aimed at prevention of the corruption, procedure of filing corruption complaints, the mechanisms of impact of the organization and the civil society on the development of anti-corruption policies, as well as the monitoring carried out in the sphere of public services.

Mr. Karen Zadoyan, Coordinator of the SCOs’ Anti-Corruption Coalition Secretariat, President of the Armenian Young Lawyers Association presented information on the activities of the activities of the Armenian CSO’s Coalition, and the AYLA, as well as about Armenia’s policies in the sphere of the fight against corruption, the challenges and achievements.

The parties attached importance of the role of independent anti-corruption bodies and criminalization of illicit enrichment in the implementation of effective anti-corruption fight in the national levels. They also stressed the role of strong civil society, which should be the main pillar of fight against corruption. The parties reached agreements for possible future cooperation.

During the meeting, Ms Lia Toriana, Youth Program Manager, Transparency International Indonesia, introduced information about the programs of the organization, specifically those of the youth wing and stressed importance of the women’s and youth participation in fight against corruption.

Mr. Zadoyan introduced the anti-corruption activities and projects of the CSOs’ Anti-Corruption Coalition and AYLA, stressing the importance of their activities in the development of organizational capacities in the anti-corruption fight and the activities aimed at prevention of corruption.

The parties also discussed the issues on strengthening the anti-corruption mechanisms on the national levels, the importance of strong civil society, as well as then issues of possible future cooperation.
