Pupils become Victims of Corruption as a Result of lack of Awareness

Miasin” (Together) NGO for Protection the Rights of People with Disabilities started its activities in Ararat marz since 1 July 2015. The objective is fight against corruption in the sphere of education.

“The main targets of our activities are educational establishments: high schools and vocational schools. We have already contacted them and reached agreements to hold meetings with the pupils and the members of the parents’ councils,” Mr. Tigran Shahinyan, President of the organization said.

“Tomorrow we have planned the first meeting. The next meeting will be the day after tomorrow. Overall 10 meetings are planned. We shall introduce the international experience as well, and the best practices of the educational establishments,” Mr. Shahinyan added.

He also said that social surveys referring to the sphere will be conducted in the Ararat marz among 200 – 250 respondents.

“Doing this we shall reveal the problems, as well as raise the level of legal awareness of the citizens. Through raising awareness of the pupils we shall promote their understanding what the corruption is as an occurrence, because in many cases they become victims of corruption as a result of lack of awareness,” our interlocutor mentioned.

To remind you, on 29 June, the Grants Commission of the “Multi-Faceted Anti-Corruption Promotion” Project finalized the evaluation of the applications submitted for the 2nd round of the Small grants’ competition announced in the Project framework. Miasin” (Together) NGO for Protection the Rights of People with Disabilities was among the winners.
