Today in the Court of criminal Appeal the court hearing of 2.5-year-old Lia Misakyan’s Death in Arabkir medical centre was held with the presiding judge G. Avetisyan.
The court examination started only after the approval of the 2 parties to continue the case together with the same lawyers and representatives.
The Judge G. Avetisyan presented the accusation of the Court of the First Instance, pursuant to which Lilit Vardanyan was recognized guilty under Article 130 Part 2 of the RA Criminal Code and sentenced her for the term of two years, without any additional sanction. Zarine Ayvazyan was sentenced under the same Article to the term of 2 years and six months. The defendants were released from the main punishment under the 2013 amnesty act.
The successor of the injured party Arthur Sakunts made a motion to postpone the court hearing in order to acquaint himself with the appeal of the other party. The court satisfied the motion. The next court hearing was set on 31 August at 11.00.
Notably, on 31 December 2012, 2.5-year-old child Lia Misakyan had fever and convulses. Her father took her to “Arabkir” Medical Center on an ambulance. The child died on 2 January 2013. Pursuant to the accusation the child died, because pediatricians of Arabkir medical centre Lilit Vardanyan and Zarine Ayvazyan did not carry out their responsibilities properly, and demonstrated a careless treatment.
