The pilot programs of the probation service in Armenia started from July. There are two pilots in action in Shengavit Administrative District of Yerevan and in Vanadzor City.
William Minasyan, representative of Lori Unit of the Alternative Punishments Department of the Penitentiary Department of the RA Ministry of Justice reported that the Department implements control over the people who are on parole and on probation: “The implemented punishments are imposing fine, social works, deprivation of the right to certain activities.”
According to him, the program launched lately and there is no regulating legislation yet: “That is why the new Criminal Procedure Code must be adopted connected with this,” mentioned the interlocutor by adding that they participate in the trainings. “We have trainings, get acquainted with the international experience; lately our specialists had exchange of experience: they got acquainted with the Georgian experience, participated in the seminar-discussions.”
