How is it Possible to fight against Corruption in a Council which does not include CSO Representatives?

“In fact, the meeting should have ensured participation of the civil society as well and the priority issues were included in the agenda,” Advocate, Miss Syuzanna Soghomonyan, AYLA Board Member said in the interview with Iravaban.net, speaking about the yesterday’s session of the Anti-Corruption Council. She said that one of the priority issues was why the CSO Anti-Corruption Coalition and any representative of the civil society refused to participate in the session.

“It is therefore unclear on what basis the agenda was drawn up, when there was an urgency to include more primary issues,” Syuzanna Soghomonyan noted.

The lawyer said that participation of the civil society is effective for fight against corruption. “How is it possible to fight against corruption in a Council which does not include CSO representatives?”asked the lawyer.

According to her, the actual component of public participation in the face of the CSOs was not provided in the Council. In addition not all the parties were involved in the discussions. “The number of the members of the Council, and the participants was unclear. How the discussions were going on was unclear as well,” Miss Soghomonyan mentioned.
