CSO Anti-Corruption Coalition Representative оpposes to the Prime Minister

“Let a political power, or a representative of the civil society say that they had agreed something with the government, that a reasonable issue was offered, but we did not listen to it. There is no such question, or they have come to an agreement with the Government and the Government did not keep its promise,” RA Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan said this at yesterday’s session of the Anti-Corruption Council.

“Yes, there were agreements that the Government did not keep,” Coordinator of SCO Anti-Corruption Coalition Secretariat Karen Zadoyan, AYLA President opposes to the Prime Minister.

In the interview with Iravaban.net he said, “We have come to an agreement with the former Minister of Justice Hovhannes Manukyan, that a professional working group will be created, which would discuss the issues of the institutional anti-corruption model and the illicit enrichment. We had proposed to create this working group at the first session of the Anti-Corruption Council. The verbal agreements were followed by written correspondence and in the frames of this communication the Coalition and the AYLA proposed the candidatures of experts to be involved in the working group.”

Meanwhile, according to our interlocutor, this was not even included in the agenda of the first session of the Council, in contrast to the secondary and not urgent issue. In addition, the Government or the Council has not addressed this issue in any way or form until now. “I will advise Mr. Abrahamyan, to verify relevant information before making such statements, which he easily could have done. But I also urge the Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Council to be more attentive to the issues raised by the Anti-Corruption Coalition, and take it under his direct control promote its prompt solution,” Mr. Zadoyan mentioned.
