An Infant Died While Getting a Medical Aid

Criminal proceeding was initiated at the Inquiry Division of Investigative Committee of Armavir Region, RA, in relation to the infant’s death at “Armavir” Medical Center.

The Investigative Committee reports that on June 16, 2015 at 13:55 o’clock there was an alarm from “Armavir Medical Centre” that an underage child from Jrashen village was moved for medical aid with “acute enteric infection” diagnosis. The child died the same day at 17:00 while getting medical aid.

During preparation of the materials, it was found out that the child’s condition while entering the hospital was assessed as moderate, and while getting medical aid child’s condition worsened. She was taken to the resuscitation department, where she died some time later.

Criminal Proceeding was initiated according to Article 130, Part 2 of the RA Criminal Code (Failure to implement or improper implementation of professional duties by medical and support personnel).

Forensic medical examination was set to find out the reasons of the child’s death. There was an examination held at child’s place, and there have been taken samples from water and food. Forensic food examination was set. Indispensable investigative and trial actions are undertaken to ensure objective and complete examination of circumstances of the child’s death.

Note: The suspect or the accused of the alleged offense is deemed innocent unless his or her innocence is proved by virtue of the effective court verdict in the manner prescribed by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia.
