AYLA and “Integrity Action” International Organization discussed the Issues of Cooperation in Anti-Corruption Programs

Today, at the meeting in the AYLA Central Office in Yerevan, Ms Joy Saunders, Chief Executive Officer of “Integrity Action” International Organization, Great Britain, and Mr. Karen Zadoyan, President of the Armenian Young Lawyers Association discussed the issues of cooperation in implementation of Anti-Corruption and Integrity programs.

During the meeting, Mr. Karen Zadoyan introduced the anti-corruption activities of the AYLA, attaching importance of integrity and anti-corruption education emphasized the need for inclusion of such courses in the curricula of schools and universities.

Further, Ms Joy Saunders and Mr. the representative of the Asian Development Bank Mr. Henrik Leadoff met in the discussion with the representatives of CSOs Anti-Corruption Coalition to discuss the issues of participation of the Civil Society organizations in the Open Government Partnership Program, as well as the issues of development of аnti-corruption and integrity programs in the education sphere.

In the interview with Iravaban.net, Mr. Harutyun Aleksanyan, Program Manager, Europe & Central Asia Integrity Education “Integrity Action”, said that the parties also discussed the issues of CSOs participation in community programs’ monitoring activities and educational development related to the new pilot program. He mentioned that in the framework of this project construction works on ensuring seismic stability of the school buildings are being carried out.

“The non-governmental organizations should assist schools through organizing trainings for teachers, high school students and their parents, teaching them skills to monitor the construction works,” Harutyun Aleksanyan added that trainings on anti-corruption and integrity themes will be organized for the pupils as well.
