The State of Medical Services in Prisons will be improved with EU Funding

Today, the “Strengthening Health Care and Human Rights Protection in Prisons in Armenia” project within the European Union and the Council of Europe’s Partnership Co-operation Framework in the Eastern Partnership Countries for 2015-2017 implemented in cooperation with the RA Ministry of Defense was launched. Reports the Information and Public Relations Department of the RA Ministry of Justice.

According to the source, the project aims at strengthening human rights in prisons in Armenia through better provision of healthcare, including mental health care. This 24 month project with a budget of 900.000 EUROs will be completed on 28 February 2017.

Hovhannes Manukyan, the RA Minister of Justice, Natalia Vutova, head of the Council of Europe office in Yerevan, Suren Krmoyan, Deputy Minister of Justice of the RA, Hoa-Binh Adjemian, Head of Cooperation Section in the EU Delegation to Armenia and others participated in the ceremony.
