As of 1 April 2015, 2392 staff are involved in the penitentiary service (2423 – as of 01.05.2014), of which 2234 penitentiary servants (2264 – as of 01.05.2014), 110 special civil servants (108 – as of 01.05.2014), and 48 hired hands (51 – as of 01.05.2014).
We learn this from the Annual report of the Staff of the RA Ministry of Justice. According to the report currently 3934 persons are kept in the prisons (3913 – as of 01.05.2014), of which arrested persons 1220 (1046 – as of 01.05.2014) and 2814 detainees (2867- as of 01.05.2014).
In the reporting period 1503 prisoners were released from the penitentiaries of the RA Ministry of Justice.
During the reporting period 103 criminal cases were initiated on the crimes that took place in the detention facilities of the RA Ministry of Justice.
During the mentioned period, as a result of searches in the cameras, accommodations as well as of the parcels for the prisoners the following amount of forbidden units were found and confiscated:
a) alcohol 1841,36 liters,
b) drugs 186,58878 grams,
c) cutting-stubbing weapons 4510 units,
d) money and valuable items 345200 AMD,
e) cell phones 2683 units.
As a result of violation of the internal rules of the detention facilities and correctional institutions 2809 detained persons were subjected to disciplinary penalties and 156 persons were awarded.
254 prisoners were included in risk groups
In the reporting period:
– 1163 detained persons received in-patient treatment
– 78147 detained persons had applied for out-patient treatment,
– The number of tuberculosis patients was 37,
– HIV/AIDS patients, 27.
