The RA Minister of Justice, Hovhannes Manukyan was sorry that a quite significant part of the public sector has refrained to participate in the competition for NGOs’ participation in the Anti-Corruption Council.
Today, during the meeting with journalists, Mr. Manukyan, answering the question of Iravaban.net, said, “Of course, I would like if this sector is also interested in participating, because there are many wise people and organizations there, which have experience in this field, but we cannot do anything, as this is the procedure. Boycott is also a form of fighting,” the minister said.
We would like to mention that members from 5 opposition factions of the NA should also be included in the Council, and referring this question, Hovhannes Manukyan said, “There are people who participate, and there are some who rejected.” Then he corrected “One has rejected.”
Mr. Manukyan did not answer our question about which factions participate and which not.
We would like to emphasize that the Anti-Corruption Coalition created by the union of more than 70 non-governmental organizations, as well as the Public Network for Cooperation with State Authorities, which consists of more than 150 non-governmental organizations have denied participating in the contest for being included in the Council, making a corresponding announcement. The Coalition of the Armenian NGOs with Consultative Status at ECOSOC. “Transparency International” anti-corruption NGO, which took part in the processing of the anti-corruption strategy concept, prefer to remain as observers.
