Soon the case of 28 years old Ashot Arushanyan who is in prison for already 3 years will be submitted to the European Court of Human Rights. Ashot Arushanyan’s advocate Lipari Simonyan said in the interview with Iravaban.net.
The Cassation Court of Appeal dismissed the appeal to take the case into proceedings. Currently, I have to make some corrections and the next step will be submitting the claim to ECHR,” said the advocate.
Referring to protest actions, which Ashot Arushanyan’s parents and relatives were organizing, the advocate said that though they were useless, but the parents will continue their protests.
Ashot Arushanyan was accused in stalling 56 million 400.000 AMD from the car of Armen Manukyan, the Deputy Director of “Manana Grain” LLC.
The The First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Kentron and Nork Marash Administrative Districts had recognized Edgar Karakeshisyan and Asot Arushanyan guilty under Article 177, Part 3, Point 1 of the RA Criminal Code (theft committed in particularly large amount), which foresees imprisonment for the term of 4 to 8 years, and sentenced Edgar Karakeshishyan to 7 years and Ashot Arushanyan to 5 and a half years of imprisonment.
