STATEMENT OF THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT
1915. MAY 24
During the last month, the Kurds and the Turkish population of Armenia has been involved in the massacre of Armenians by the authority of the Ottoman Government and often also help. Such massacres took place in mid-April in Erzurum, Derjan, Egin, Bitlis, Sassoon, Mush, Zeitun, and throughout Cilicia. Population of around 100 villages surrounding Van were killed. Armenian part of the city is besieged by the Kurds. At the same time the Ottoman government of Constantinople pour out their rage on the helpless population. Considering these new crimes carried out by Turkey, the allied governments announce publicly to the Sublime Porte that they will call to responsible all members of the Ottoman Government, as well as the agents involved in the massacres of the Armenians.

I’m sorry, but I must say that the information that possess from a lot of places prove that the number of 800,000 killed in the month of May, that the noble Earl consider unbelievable, unfortunately, is possible. And this is so because the measures are completely deliberate and systematic. The massacres are the result of the policy, which to the extent possible to reveal, in the duration of a definite time was developed by the gang, which today control the government of the empire.
