Recognition of Genocide by the States is like testifying on the fact in the court. Aram Vardevanyan PhD in Law makes such comparison in the interview with Iravaban.net.
“Recognition is a part of the case, it is important and is the evidence of the attitudes and values of international community, and of that state. And the recognition of the fact is of a certain ancillary matter. However, we cannot be satisfied with this only,” Mr. Vardevanyan said.
According to him, steps must be made in order to discuss the issue of liability and compensation in international instances. ” There are a variety of mechanisms for that. It refers to the UN International Court of Justice, the European Court of Human Rights. These are legal platforms where the issue should be raised.”
A. Vardevanyan said that, liability and compensation issues are also important in terms of prevention of such crimes.
