“The Government created Anti-Corruption Council cannot be independent if governed by the prime minister.” This is the political scientist Stepan Grigoryan’s opinion, which he expressed in the interview with Iravaban.net.
He noted that similar structures wer in the establishment process. For example currently, such processes in the Ukraine and the head of the Anti-Corruption Council will be elected from a number of several candidates.
With regard of a larger involvement of the civil society organizations’ representatives in the Ant- Corruption Council, Mr. Grigoryan said, “The Council members shall represent the independent system. We live in Armenia and we know that there are NGOs that are in rather close relations with the Government. If truly independent NGOs participate in the Council, the work will be transparent and there will be effect as well.”
