On the first day of the court hearing on the case “Shant Harutyunyan and Others”, 32-year-old Hayk Kyureghyan expressed his protest against the police, opened fire and after was detained and brought to the police department.
In the interview with Iravaban.net Yervand Varosyan the advocate of Hayk said that the latter was assaulted by the policemen when they were in the police car when he was handcuffed, then in the police department in two different rooms.
The Special Investigation Service had initiated a criminal case on the fact of violence coupled with excess of official duties. Hayk Kyureghyan was recognized a victim and provided testimony, but no accused was involved in the case and after some time it was closed.
Advocate Yervand Varosyan had filed an appeal against that decision to the court of the first instance with request to eliminate that decision and make a new decision. The court of the first instance had dismissed the appeal. the advocate had applied to the Court of Appeal.
To our question whether there is sufficient evidence regarding violence against Hayk Kyureghyan, the advocate said that though the doctor had examined him late, yet injuries, bruises, hemorrhages were fixed. Hayk also described the rooms, where he was subjected to violence.
