The RA Prosecutor General Gevorg Kostanyan is on a press conference in the public prosecutor’s office in Gyumri. The newsmaker of Iravaban.net reports that the RA Prosecutor General speaking about the case of Valeri Permyakov, who is involved as an accused in the case of 12 January murder of 6 family members in Gyumri, stated:
“Considering the fact that the crime was committed in the territory of the RA, thus in this case jurisdiction of the Republic of Armenia applies, hence to this reason we filed a corresponding criminal case in accordance with the RA legislation, under the corresponding articles of the RA Criminal Code the investigator of the RA Investigation Committee made a decision on involving him as a defendant in the case, and under these circumstances Jurisdiction of the RA authorities is exercised. Today, you will witness the participation of Deputy Chief of the Investigation Committee, and today through his direct involvement corresponding investigative and juridical activities will be conducted in the framework of the criminal case initiated under the RA Law. Both investigative and juridical proceedings will be applied over this person.”
The RA Prosecutor General said that there is a “double crime”. “Crime number 1 – the issue subject to consideration under the RF legislation and crime 2 – the issue subject to consideration under the RA legislation.
This is not the issue where we should be guided by emotional resolution, we have to deal with international law and international relations.” The Attorney General’s press conference live is on “Radio Liberty”.
He assured that the person will be called to liability strictly as required by law.
