Prosecutor’s Office of Syunik Marz responded to the materials about the former Mayor of Goris published in different mass media and instructed to prepare materials, and as a result criminal case was initiated.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the former Mayor N. Voskanyan during his being in office (in the period of 2000-2014), abused his official authorities and through fake tenders provided land plots in the name of his family members.
N. Voskanyan, having the aim to gain profit founded a construction company which was managed by the relatives of the Mayor. Notably, contracts on handling the needs of the community were signed just with this company and as a result of non-performance of its obligations by the company the community suffered substantial pecuniary losses.
Nelson Voskanyan was charged under the provisions of Part 1 of Article 308 of the RA Criminal Code (7 episodes) as well as under Article 310.
