Today Former Head of Police of Shirak region Karen Babakekhyan was questioned at the court on the case “Financial Pyramid”.
Arthur Babakekhyan stated at the court that they were close with families with A. A. – they had godfather relationship. Mr. Babakekhyan also said that he did not remember many episodes of the case and he restated his preliminary investigation testimonies.
Besides, the court questioned Karen babakekhyan`s son Ruben Babakekhyan and wife Donara Nazaryan, as well as their personal driver. Particularly Mrs. Nazaryan’s testimonies at the court raised some doubts for the prosecutor and the judge. The prosecutor intervened to have the preliminary investigative testimonies of the witness announced, where it was mentioned that Ruben Babakekhyan lent around 180.000 USD to A. A.. “In fact everybody stated that they trusted and knew A. A., he had a business, he couldn`t get incomes, became bankrupt and returned the money during a certain period of time. There were no compliants”, explained A. A.’s lawyer Mnatsakan Sargsyan after the court sitting.
Next sitting is scheduled for 27 November.
