World Customs Organization Experts in Armenia

WCO expert group has arrived in Armenia on a ten-day working visit within the framework of WCO Columbus Program. The third evaluation phase activities will start on October 14. The aim of the delegation is to record and evaluate the efficiency level of the reforms implemented in the RA customs system over the last five years. We get this information from the official website of the RA Customs Service.
The first phase of the Columbus Program – the diagnostic mission – was implemented in Armenia during January 19-30, 2009, when the WCO experts studied the RA customs system by assessing its capacities for reforms and improvement.
During the second phase implemented during June 15-20, 2009, a specific RA customs strategic action program was made with the assistance of WCO experts.
It is worth mentioning that due to the reforms carried out within the framework of the Columbus Program Armenia acceded to Kyoto Convention “On simplification and harmonization of customs procedures” in 2012.
It should be noted that the WCO has been implementing the Columbus Program since January 1, 2006 and its aim is to assist the WCO member states in implementation of Standards to Secure and Facilitate Global Trade. The customs administrations of over 100 of 174 WCO member states are the beneficiaries of this program.
