Issues of Prospects for Further Development of Armenia – European Union Relations discussed

Today, Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan met with the Head of Delegation of the European Union to Armenia, Ambassador Traian Hristea.

Prime Minister Abrahamyan noted that the newly formed Government would continue active cooperation with the EU and undertake practical steps for its further development.

Traian Hristea congratulated Hovik Abrahamyan with appointment to the position of Prime Minister of the RA and highly appreciated the constructive cooperation which Hovik Abrahamyan established with the EU when he was the NA Speaker.. According to the Ambassador it was a good basis to continue joint effective work and for the progress. Mr. Hristea reaffirmed the EU’s readiness to continue support to our country in the reforms of different spheres and to raise to a higher level the bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting Hovik Abrahamyan and Traian Hristea discussed the prospects for further development of Armenia – European Union relations. Both parties noted that the development of cooperation should issue from the joint statement of Armenia and EU adopted in November 2013 summit in Vilnius. It reaffirms the parties’ initiative to continue carrying out the commitments of the parties in the areas of mutual interest and the necessity of modernization of the EU – Armenia Action Plan policies.
