As a result of the secret ballot, Galust Sahakyan, Head of the “Republican” Faction was elected the chairperson of the RA National Assembly. A few minutes before, the Head of Ad Hoc Returning Committee Sukias Avetisyan, announced that 101 deputies voted in favor of his candidacy.
Only three votes in favor were registered for Hrant Bagratyan, the other candidate to the post of the NA Speaker.
The Chairperson of the National Assembly, Galust Sahakyan thanked the factions, which participated or did not participate in the vote, and then sat on the chair of the NA Speaker.
For information, Hrant Bagratyan, member of “Armenian National Congress” Faction pretend to this post as well. Ruben Hakobyan, Secretary of “Heritage” Faction had withdrawn his candidacy.
“Republican”, “Prosperous Armenia”, “Rule of Law” factions and Nikol Pashinyan, deputy from “Armenian National Congress” participated in the ballot.
The other factions had refused to participate.
