President of the Republic of Armenia met with the members of the Specialized Commission on the Constitutional Amendments under the President of the Republic of Armenia. During the meeting the Chairman of the Committee, Chairman of the RA Constitutional Court Gagik Harutyunyan reported to the President of the RA that the Draft Concept of Constitutional Reforms of the RA had been accomplished and was published on the official website of the RA Ministry of Justice. The Chairman of the Committee introduced the main provisions of the Concept and the ways for the solution of the key problems included in it.
Gagik Harutyunyan mentioned that on the assumption of the fact that the Concept is preliminary and shall pass through the mandatory discussion phase, it was not originally intended to form a univocal and final position regarding all issues. Specifically, among them, the issues of ensuring the human rights and fundamental freedoms, functional and institutional effectiveness of the judiciary as well as the issues of the form of the state governance and the elections issues were emphasized.
The President of the Republic expressed his gratitude to the Chairman and the members of the Committee for the extensive work and provided his position on several key issues.
