Mary Sargsyan, PR Coordinator of Investigation Service of Ministry of Defense informs that Vardan Samvelyan, Deputy Commander of Yerevan Capital Regiment of the RA Defense Ministry has been arrested.
The materials prepared on Samvelyan were sent to the Investigation Service of Ministry of Defense. Criminal case has been initated pursuant to Article 235 (1) of the Criminal Code of the RA “Illegal procurement, transportation, keeping or carrying of weapons, explosives or explosive devices, except smoothbore long-barrel hunting guns, ammunition.”
On July 1, at about 2:15am Nor Nork police department of Yerevan received information that a citizen with a suit case entered the restaurant complex and threatened to blow it up.
As Photo reporter Gagik Shamshyan informs policemen from Nor Nork and Avan police departments arrived in the restaurant. It took them about three hours to negotiate with the man and at last they managed to convince him and take him to the police department.
Later it turned out that the citizen was a 39 years old Lieutenant Colonel of the RA Armed Forces Vardan Samvelyan.
