Every person, especially if they are an artist, carries their childhood throughout their entire life. Our childhood is the purest place that we carry with us throughout life, including in art, says painter Armen Vahramyan, adding that almost everything he paints today comes from childhood.
The artist speaks about the truth that childhood—with its spontaneity, simplicity, and sensitivity—remains within us as a spiritual source. This is especially evident in art, where the creator often turns to their deepest memories, experiences, and sources of inspiration.

His creations, according to these words, not only have aesthetic value but also form an emotional connection between the past and present.
“Whether we want it or not, we live through our origins, developing based on what we’ve seen. In these paintings, we paint ourselves and our loved ones. Many people say that the woman in my fairy tale paintings is my mother,” shares Armen Vahramyan.
The thirteenth part of the “Mystery of Creation” video series, implemented within the framework of the “ZArt” cultural project by Iravaban.net, becomes a window into Vahramyan’s childhood, spiritual origins, and world of love for family through his own paintings.
“ZArt” has a special mission: to build a bridge between art and society. The project aims to present Armenian artists and their exceptional works not only to Armenian society but also to the diaspora and abroad, contributing to the popularization of art and recognition of artists. Through this series of videos, society comes closer to art, and artists come closer to society, creating a beautiful space for cultural mutual understanding.

“Before starting a painting, you often already see it in your subconscious field, already formed—with characters, message, and color. There are even paintings you’ve already seen in your dreams, which makes the creative process easier later on. You mature the painting and bring it to what you’ve already envisioned,” notes Armen Vahramyan.
Vahramyan works not only with technique and hand but first with inner vision. This is similar to a dream that transforms into material form through color, line, and emotional energy. Such an approach transforms the artist into a mediator between his inner and outer worlds.

For him, a painting doesn’t begin at the moment when the brush touches the canvas, but much earlier—from a moment when some feeling or image begins to form inside. This can take days, weeks, or come in the form of a dream.
