Members of the EU-Armenia CEPA Civil Society Platform met with EU Ambassador Vassilis Maragos

On 28 June, 2024, EU Ambassador Vassilis Maragos met with the newly elected members of the EU-Armenia CEPA Civil Society Platform (CSP) to discuss the vision of the Platform on reforms related to the CSTO and the deepening of EU-Armenia relations. The Ambassador welcomed the newly elected members of the CEPA Civil Society Platform, noting that engaging with civil society is key to ensuring the inclusiveness of the process.

During the meeting, the members of the CSP shared their professional and expert views on the areas where the platform has to say its word and to carry out serious activities. Ms Syuzanna Soghomonyan, the representative of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association, drew the attention of Mr. Ambassador to the need to carry out continuous reforms in the fields of anti-corruption, judiciary, human rights and police.

Syuzanna Soghomonyan also expressed her concern to the fact that although RA, in the face of state administration bodies, regularly emphasizes the works and efforts made in the direction of the implementation of CEPA, yet until now there is not a single document, a report or a monitoring report on the implementation of CEPA published by the government, so that all interested parties, including the public and CSOs, can study the performed work, and evaluate their qualitative impact.
