There was Leakage from 3 Liquefied Gas Tanks, 1 Diesel Tank and 1 Gasoline Tank in the Area of ​​the Gas Station, causing a Fire: Ministry of Internal Affairs

On 6 June, at 11:14 p.m., the National Center for Crisis Management, the Kotayk Marz Crisis Management Center, as well as the “SOS SYSTEMS” fire alarm system, received information regarding the explosion and fire at the gas station located on the Yerevan-Sevan highway.

4 combat units, one operational and on-duty group of the National Crisis Management Center, Rescue Forces and Medical Support Departments went to the scene.

Due to the complexity of the fire, “Number 3” fire alarm was announced on the spot.

13 combat units, 4 operative groups, 1 rescue squad and 12 community water carriers were involved in the fire fighting, 5 of them from Yerevan Municipality, 3 from Abovyan community, 1 from Nor Hachn and one from Akunk communities, and 2 of residents of Balahovit community.

The head of the Rescue Forces Department, Colonel A. Gevorgyan led the work.

According to preliminary data, an explosion of a liquefied gas tank (37 tons) took place at the “Gaz Oil” LLC at. 6/1Yerevan-Sevan highway, causing a fire.

In 3 liquefied gas tanks (37 tons each), 1 diesel tank (8 tons) and 1 gasoline tank (12 tons) leaked in the area of ​​the gas station causing a fire.

“Mercedes” and “Opel” cars were completely burned, the driver’s compartment of the trailer truck was completely burned, the tank of the “Zil” truck, the driver’s compartment of another gas tank truck was completely burned, and the left side of the “BMW” car was burned.

The construction elements of the roof of the filling station (about 120 sq/m), windows and doors were burnt, the refrigerators nearby were damaged, the roof of the administrative building was burnt (about 150 sq/m), the property was damaged, in the area behind the adjacent construction material warehouse, about 40 sq/m accumulated waste was burned.

As a result of the explosion and fire, 7 citizens were injured, 1 of them received appropriate medical care at the “Abovyan” Medical Center and was discharged, and 6 are in the National Center of Burns and Dermatology CJSC.

The 16-18 km section of the Yerevan-Sevan highway was temporarily closed both ways.

Director of the Security Service, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Security Service Major General Kamo Tsutsulyan had coordinated the general work at the scene. Deputy directors of the Rescue Service and other officials were also present at the scene.

As of 8:51 on 7June, the outflow from all reservoirs has been stopped.

Three combat units of the Rescue Service are on duty at the site, regularly carrying out cooling and freezing works.

As of 10:00 a.m., traffic on the Yerevan-Sevan highway has been completely restored.
