Advocates are on strike today in protest against legislative changes related to advocacy. The ruling power wants to impose a tax on the provision of free services by lawyers.
“What is the state doing today? Today, by increasing our tax burden not twice, but for several times, the state deprives the ordinary citizen of the possibility of effective protection.
All those citizens who could afford to use the services of a lawyer on a contractual basis will have to go to the public defender’s office,” Armine Fanyan, attorney of the RA Chamber of Advocates, said at a press conference held today, on 21 May.
