The Court Session was postponed due to Vladimir Gasparyan’s Non-Appearance

On 26 March, the Anti-Corruption Criminal Court, under the chairmanship of judge Vardges Sargsyan, postponed the hearing in the case of former Chief of Police Vladimir Gasparyan, his former Deputy Levon Yeranosyan, Head of the Police Internal Audit Department Vardan Tunyan and Commander of the Military Unit of Police Forces Gurgen Grigoryan.

According to Iravaban.net, the session started about 40 minutes late. Defense attorneys Erik Aleksanyan, Alexander Kochubaev, Ani Badikyan and defendant Vladimir Gasparyan did not appear in court. The defender of the latter previously had a telephone conversation with Alexander Kochubaev and informed that another defender will appear in his place due to his workload.

Kochubaev, in turn, had a phone conversation with the defendant’s wife, the latter stated that the former Chief of Police had health problems, pressure fluctuation, and could not appear at the court session. According to the instruction of the court staff, it was requested to submit relevant documents.

No factual data or medical documents were presented to justify the fact that Vladimir Gasparyan did not appear at today’s court session and had health problems. The issue of considering former Chief of Police Gasparyan’s non-appearance as respectable or disrespectful will be discussed during the next court session, which was previously agreed with the parties and will take place on 4 April, at 10:30 am.
