Hasmik Petrosyan, who was forcibly displaced from the occupied Republic of Artsakh, told in the framework of “Artsakh: Armenian Genocide 2023. Stories of Survivors” documentary project that she has been forced to leave her home for the third time. She said that they were displaced for the second time in 2020 and in 2023 they were displaced for the third time.
In 2020, when they had to leave Artsakh, their house came under the control of the enemy. After the tripartite agreement of 9 November, 2020, they returned to Artsakh and lived in Stepanakert.
“There was fear, but we did not want to leave our homeland, we fought until the end, but in vain,” Mrs. Hasmik says.
According to her, the 9 months of the illegal blockade of Artsakh have also been very difficult. “In the last months, it got worse, we ran out of food, we were struggling somehow, but in any case we didn’t want to leave. We were constantly waiting for the road to open. We never even thought of leaving, but it turned out what it is now. After that war, we all had to leave.”
