The General Department of Investigation of Crimes against the State, Fundamentals of the Constitutional Order and Public Security of the RA Investigative Committee, has initiated criminal proceedings against Ruslan Eldanis-Oghlu Penakhov, a soldier of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan, under Points 7 and 15 of Part 2 of Article 44-155, , Part 1 of Article 335, Part 1 of Article 340, Part 1 of Article 44-425, and Part 1 of Article 469 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, on the cases of the attempted sabotage, attempted murder in a manner dangerous to the lives of other persons, as well as attempted murder motivated by national, religious hatred, intolerance and enmity, illegally carrying and transporting firearms and ammunition, smuggling firearms and ammunition, and illegally crossing the state border of the Republic of Armenia on 28 February 2024.

Ruslan Penakhov was arrested by the decision of the investigator.

The circumstances will be clarified by the investigation.

Note: A person that is suspected or accused of an alleged crime is considered innocent until his/her guilt is proved by a court judgment that has come into legal effect pursuant to the procedure determined by RA Criminal Procedure Code.
