An investigation is being conducted in the Investigative Division of Ajapnyak and Davitashen Administrative Districts of the Investigative Department of Yerevan to find out all the circumstances of the case of attempted murder of a 54-year-old man near the Ajapniak 1 Seat of the Criminal Court General Jurisdiction of Yerevan City.

The Investigative Committee reported.

On 18 October, 2023, a report was received from Mashtots Division of the Yerevan City Department of Police of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs that on the same day, at 3:40 p.m., the above-mentioned man was taken to the “Armenia” Medical Center for medical treatment with a diagnosis of “gunshot wound to the right chest”.

Criminal proceedings were initiated regarding the incident in accordance with the features of Article 44-155, Part 1 and Article 335, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code.

Traces of blood, shot shells and 1 bullet were found and taken during the investigation. It was also found that as a result of the shootings, the Mercedes Benz car parked in the parking lot of the aforementioned court was damaged.

The clothes the victim was wearing at the time of the incident as well as the bullet removed from the latter’s right elbow joint as a result of surgery were confiscated.

Forensic medical, forensic genetics, forensic ballistic, and forensic examinations were appointed, the police was instructed to take operative-investigative measures.

It was not possible to carry out the necessary investigative actions with the victim due to his health condition;

On 19 October, 2023, at 01:30, a 40-year-old resident of the city of Yerevan presented himself to the Shengavit Division of the Yerevan City Department of Police of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs, presenting a Makarov-type pistol with cartridges, which was the weapon of the crime.

The latter was submitted to the investigative department. According to the received preliminary data, which is still subject to verification, interpersonal problems were the cause of the crime.

The latter was arrested on the basis of the immediately arising reasonable suspicion of having committed a crime.

The investigation is ongoing.

Note: A person that is suspected or accused of an alleged crime is considered innocent until his/her guilt is proved by a court judgment that has come into legal effect pursuant to the procedure determined by RA Criminal Procedure Code.
