Vagif Khachatryan, who was abducted by the Azerbaijani military in the Lachin Corridor, stated that he does not accept the accusations brought against him in Baku.
It should be noted that Vagif Khachatryan’s words are quoted as presented by the Azerbaijani media.
Khachatryan said that he graduated from the driving school in 1973, served in the Soviet Army in 1974-1976, and then worked as a driver in the Agricultural-Industrial Department of Stepanakert. In 1992, when Robert Kocharyan headed the “Karabakh” Committee, Khachatryan was mobilized by the Military Commissariat of Stepanakert.
Khachatryan, among about 100 residents of Patara village, went to the military commissariat and registered. Upon returning to the village, the recruits were divided into 3 groups of 33 people each, and then sent to Noragyugh village of Askerani region.
After completing the 5-10-day course in 1992, the group, which included Khachatryan, was sent to serve to the heights of Mount Parukh. According to Khachatryan, he served a total of 7 days.
He noted that during this period there were no battles with Azerbaijanis in the vicinity of Mount Parukh.
Khachatryan caught a cold and had health problems in the harsh mountain climate, so in October 1992 he was hospitalized in Stepanakert city hospital, where he was treated for 20 days, and then due to his illness, he was released from service and sent to the rear as a worker in the Noragyugh food warehouse.
In June 1994, after the end of the war, Khachatryan left this job and started farming in the village of Patara.
To remind, on 29 July, representatives of the border guard service of Azerbaijan abducted Vagif Khachatryan, who was moving from Artsakh to Armenia to receive urgent medical care. Later it became known that he was charged, according to which Vagif Khachatryan allegedly created a criminal group, which on 21 December 1991, participated in the crimes against the residents of Meshali village of Ivanyan (Khojalu) region.
